Chocolate Moroccan Waffles

Chocolate Moroccan Waffles 

Makes 12-15 4 inch waffles
1 2/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cups sugar
1 Tablespoon baking soda
3 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
2 Tablespoons Moroccan Spice Blend
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup melted butter 

1. In a medium bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa and Moroccan Spice Blend. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture; set aside.

2. In another medium bowl beat eggs slightly; stir in milk and butter. Add egg mixture all at once to the flour mixture, Stir just until moistened (batter should be slightly lumpy).

3. Pour 1 to 1 1/3 cup of batter onto grids of a preheated, lightly greased waffle baker. Close lid quickly; do not open until done. Bake according to manufacturer’s directions. When done, use a fork to lift waffle off grid. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve warm.

Suggested Toppings:
1. Butter
2. Whipped Cream
3. Cocoa Sugar – 1 part cocoa powder mixed with 2 parts powdered sugar. Sprinkled on top
4. Mocha Sugar – 1 part cocoa powder, 1 part instant coffee (powdered) and 2 parts powdered sugar.
